Frequently asked questions

What does this app do?

You choose the apps that pull you in — social media, video, games. When you try to open one, Gratitude shows a lock screen instead. To unlock, you speak or type one thing you're grateful for. The app then opens for a window of time you set, and re-locks automatically afterwards.

Why does it need Screen Time permission?

Blocking apps on iPhone is only possible through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) system. When you grant it, the app can place a shield over the apps you select. Your Screen Time data never leaves your device and is never sent to us.

Does it record my voice?

Speech recognition runs on your device to check that you actually spoke a gratitude statement. Audio is not recorded, stored, or uploaded. You can always type instead of speaking.

What is the coach?

A gentle companion that offers short reflective prompts about your goals and gratitude entries. In this version the coach runs entirely on your device and works offline — nothing you write to it is uploaded.

How do I unblock an app permanently?

Open Gratitude, go to Settings, and remove the app from your blocked list. You are always in control — nothing is locked without your choice.

How does Pro work?

The app is free to use. Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscriptions renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
