Frequently asked questions

What does it do?

Sing or play a note and Swar Detector shows you which swar it is, in real time — big and clear in the centre of the screen, with a ring that turns from amber to green as you close in on the true pitch.

How do I set my Sa?

Tap the bar at the bottom showing सा = C4, then pick any key and octave. Every swar on screen re-maps to your chosen Sa instantly.

Can I see Western note names instead?

Yes. Tap the note icon at the top left and switch the notation mode to Western — the same pitch then reads as C, D, E and so on instead of सा, रे, ग.

Does it record my voice?

No. Audio is analysed live on your device and thrown away immediately. Nothing is recorded, saved, or uploaded. See our Privacy Policy.

Why is my note jumping around?

Pitch detection needs a reasonably steady tone. Background noise, a very breathy voice, or a note held for less than a moment can make the reading unstable. Try a quieter room and hold the note steady.

Does it work offline?

Completely. There is no account, no sign-up, and the app makes no network requests at all.
